Maharashtra's Stance on Maratha Reservation

On Wednesday, Chandra Shekhar Bawankule, the Revenue Minister of Maharashtra, stated that the state government remains committed to providing reservation for the Maratha community without altering the existing quota for Other Backward Classes (OBC).

This statement comes amid a movement initiated by Maratha activist Manoj Jarange, who is advocating for a 10 percent reservation under the OBC category. Bawankule mentioned during a press conference in Nagpur that the government's position is clear: Maratha reservation should be granted without impacting the OBC quota, and steps are being taken in this direction.

Additionally, he expressed his disapproval of derogatory remarks made by Jarange against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Bawankule emphasized that the people of Maharashtra will not tolerate any disrespect towards Fadnavis and will ensure that Jarange learns a lesson.
